Camden Teenager Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Man, Wounding Woman: Prosecutor

A Camden teenager has been arrested and charged for fatally shooting a man and wounding a woman last month, authorities said.

Avonte Muse, 19, was charged with killing Akeem Jenkins, 33, and wounding a 32-year-old woman, both from Camden, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

Muse was charged with first-degree murder and second-degree aggravated assault, they said.

Muse was arrested by Camden County police on an unrelated charge on Nov. 4 and is currently in the Camden County Jail, they said.

On Oct. 27 at approximately 8 p.m., Camden County police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Hull Road, in Camden. Police found the two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were taken to Cooper University Hospital where Jenkins succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m. The female victim was treated and released from the hospital.
